    Preschools and other early learning centers are critical settings for obesity prevention efforts. The preschool years are an important time when young children are learning to develop healthy habits. In FY19, Maryland SNAP-Ed partnered with over 213 early education sites and reached 9,561 preschool-aged kids through face-to-face education and multi-level interventions.

    Wisconsin youth are tackling health challenges in their communities head-on with a program called Youth Advocates for Community Health (YACH). Partnerships between youth and adults are central to this program. It is organized by educators from the University of Wisconsin – Madison Division of Extension SNAP-Ed. Engaged youth also play a big role in leading projects. 

  • Chickasaw Nation SNAP-Ed Coordinated Programming and Evaluation

    The Eagle Adventure program was developed through a collaboration between the Chickasaw Nation Nutrition Services SNAP-Ed Program and the Oklahoma State University in Indian Country for youth and their families after extensive formative research indicated type 2 diabetes as a major concern among parents and elders. The team used the socioecological model (SEM) as the framework for development of the program and evaluation processes.

Collaborates with community and statewide partners to leverage resources and increase program reach to eligible audiences. Empowers organizations and individuals to create changes in policies, systems, and environments that make the healthy choice the easy choice for all Montanans.

    Text2BHealthy is a text message program targeting parents of elementary school students who are currently receiving classroom-based nutrition education. Face-to-face nutrition education is an effective tool in teaching children about fruits and vegetables, but programs often experience difficulty reaching parents.
