What is the SNAP-Ed Photo Gallery?
The SNAP-Ed Photo Gallery is a collection of high-quality, professionally produced photographs depicting a variety of nutrition education themes and concepts supported by Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Education. Images are free from branding and commercial bias and support key educational messages and healthy behaviors.
How do I find the images I need?
The photo gallery makes it easy for you find images you need quickly. If you already have a good idea of the image you want, simply enter a descriptive word or two in the search box in the top left corner of the Photo Gallery main page. This will search the whole gallery for the image you need.
You can also browse the images using an assortment of categories. Categories are listed on the Photo Gallery main page. A few categories are highlighted with images on the top of the page and the rest are listed below. The number in parenthesis after the category name is the number of images in that category. You can narrow your results by then selecting an additional category (or categories) listed on the right side of the page.
What format are the images available in?
All images are available in two formats:
• JPEG format (low resolution)—appropriate for web applications and many desktop publishing projects
• TIFF format (high resolution)— suitable for brochures, publications, banners, large display pieces, and other professionally printed materials
Do I need special permission to use any of the images in the Photo Gallery?
No! The digital images are free for non-commercial, non-profit use. They are provided by the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Can I contribute my images to the Photo Gallery?
We are not currently taking photo contributions. If you have a photograph collection; however, we invite you to send us your Web address. We will feature links to photo collections that depict appropriate Program nutrition education and outreach messages on our Images from Other Sources page. We highly recommend that photo use restrictions, image descriptions, and file-type availability are listed on Web sites.
We welcome feedback on the SNAP-Ed Photo Gallery images regarding how they are being used, which ones are most useful, and other images needed to communicate SNAP-Ed and outreach messages. We hope you find the SNAP-Ed Photo Gallery, and any related links we are able to provide, useful and look forward to hearing from you.
