Inclusion Criteria for the SNAP-Ed Library
Materials Submitted to the SNAP-Ed Library are reviewed against the following criteria:
- Information contained is evidence-based, accurate, and consistent with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
- Materials fall within the scope of the SNAP-Ed Guiding Principles.
- Subject matter is presented objectively and fairly; no brand name promotion or obvious author/sponsor bias.
- Material is relevant to the SNAP-Ed program.
- State informational materials are accurate and only for SNAP-Ed-funded programs.
- Materials with USDA funding will be prioritized; materials without USDA funding must have considerable relevance to the SNAP-Ed program.
- Educational materials are appropriate for low-income audiences or the staff that work with such audiences.
- Consumer education material is “action-oriented” and/or can be used as part of a behaviorally focused intervention.
- Educational materials are substantial in nature and have enough educational content to warrant review.
- For materials that contain recipes, recipes are compatible with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and generally use low-cost, readily available ingredients.
- At the time of submission, the Web site and/or electronic resources associated with the material are easily accessible, and contain few broken links and minimal outdated information.
