Now Accepting SNAP-Ed Intervention Submissions
Beginning March 12, 2025, through April 30, 2025, FNS will accept research or practice-based interventions for consideration in the SNAP-Ed library.
- Research-based interventions are based on relevant rigorous nutrition and public health nutrition research, including systematically reviewed scientific evidence.
- Practice-based interventions include case studies, pilot studies and evidence from the field on nutrition education interventions that demonstrate obesity prevention potential.
The SNAP-Ed library is part of SNAP-Ed’s information clearinghouse that State and SNAP-Ed implementing agencies can access to explore evidence-based SNAP-Ed interventions. The library aims to strengthen SNAP-Ed’s impact by sharing interventions that have been found to be effective at supporting individuals in living healthier lives on a limited budget. States and SNAP-Ed implementing agencies can select from these interventions when developing SNAP-Ed State plans.
Steps to Submit an Evidence- Based Intervention:
- View the pre-recorded Intervention Submission Webinar.
- Review the online Intervention Submission Form and the scoring criteria (see Resources section below).
- Email snap-edconnection@usda.gov to request a link to the online intervention submission form. In your request, please include your name and the name of your organization.
- Submit your research or practice-based interventions by April 30, 2025.
Interested in Reviewing Interventions?
Interventions submitted for consideration will undergo a peer-review process to determine if they meet the criteria for evidence-based intervention submissions. FNS is assembling a team with varied experience, such as researchers and SNAP-Ed practitioners, who work in different settings and with a variety of direct education, social marketing, or policy, systems, and environmental change interventions, to review intervention submissions.
Reviewers will assess interventions using a standard scoring tool to determine the intervention’s effectiveness and fit for inclusion in the SNAP-Ed library. Each intervention will be reviewed by more than one reviewer. You can nominate yourself to review interventions if you meet the following criteria:
- Knowledge of SNAP-Ed direct education, social marketing, or policy, systems, and environmental change interventions
- Interest in supporting the expansion of SNAP-Ed evidence-based interventions
- Ability to remain impartial during the review and scoring of SNAP-Ed intervention submissions
- Willingness to participate in a 60-minute training in late May 2025 (date TBD)
- Ability to commit up to six hours to review submissions in June and July 2025
To nominate yourself as a reviewer for this SNAP-Ed intervention peer-review process, please send an email to snap-edconnection@usda.gov by April 15, 2025. In this email, please indicate your interest and provide a brief (5-8 sentence) description of your knowledge or experience with SNAP-Ed direct education, social marketing, or PSE interventions. FNS will notify applicants whether they were selected by May 1, 2025.
